Through the project TREEgital the Bundesforschungszentrum für Wald (BFW) fosters digital learning in schools. The project supports students and teachers in exploring and mediating the real world, the ecosystem and the biotope “Forest”, by means of digital aids. Within this project, the BFW cooperates with the Department of Subject-Specific Education at the University of Innsbruck. The aim of this cooperation is to create an online course for students aged 10 to 14 with a focus on the students’ disciplinary literacy. In this online course, students explore exciting questions on the topic „Biodiversity in Forests” with the help of linguistic scaffolds.
